Our traditional post and rail fences provide an effective barrier for livestock while enhancing and adding value to your property. They also suit parks and open spaces where pedestrian control, barriers or handrails are needed.

Fences follow undulating or sloping terrain and can trace curves and bends. Rails butt together inside the mortice and need no fixings, and can be combined with electric or plain wire for secure, stock-proof fencing, ideal for ménages, arenas and stable fit-outs.

Rail options

Standard sizes, custom morticing

Standard rails are supplied in sizes such as 150 × 50mm and 200 × 50mm, in 2400mm, 2700mm and 3000mm lengths. Shorter rails can be cut down on request, and slightly larger rails are available. Rail lengths are consistent across Spotted Gum, Ironbark, Forest Red Gum and White Cypress.

We chamfer the tops of all posts as standard (a bevelled or 45° top is available at additional cost). All morticing is custom-made to your requirements.

Posts & morticing

Custom-cut on our own machinery

Norwood prides itself on specialised, custom-made on-site machinery that cuts the mortices for the rails. Intermediate posts are morticed all the way through; end posts are morticed halfway. Corner posts can be morticed to any angle.

Standard corner posts are 200 × 200mm, and gate posts are typically 200 × 200mm, the bigger the gate and rails, the bigger the post. Feature entrance posts and larger rails can also be made to order.
